 LOAN PROCEDURES

 
BOOKS(except New books), AUDIO BOOKS & MUSIC CD’s:
      *Circulate for 2 weeks
      *Overdue fines are $.10 per day
NEW BOOKS:
      *Circulate for 1 week
      *Overdue fines are $.10 per day
CD-ROM’S:
      *Circulate for 2 weeks
      *Overdue fines are $1 per day
KITS:
      *Circulate for 2 weeks
      *Overdue fines are $1 per day
MAGAZINES:
      *Circulate for 1 week
      *Overdue fines are $.10 per day
VIDEO’s & DVD’s:
      *Circulate for 2 days
      *Overdue fines are $1 per day
      *Limit of 2 per card
      *Video’s must be rewound
      *Cannot be renewed
ADDITIONAL PROCEDURES:
      *All Items (EXCEPT Videos & DVD’s) may be renewed.
      *1st time Borrower limited to 2 items.
      *All items may be returned in the book drop when the Library is closed.
      *Renewable items may be renewed by phone or in person for 1 extra loan 
        period.
 
     **FULL RETAIL PRICE WILL BE CHARGED FOR LOST OR DAMAGED LIBRARY MATERIALS.
     **Anyone over 6 years of age may receive a library card, a parent's or guardian's signature is required.     
     **Anyone over 16 years of age, showing ID with name an current address may receive an adult library card.

 PROCEDURE FOR RESERVE REQUESTS
 & ILL REQUESTS

· Fill out request forms at desk

· New Titles, Reference, Local History or Genealogical Materials are not available for loan- photocopies can be requested

· Requests are canceled after 3 months

· Delivery to Wayland is provide 4 times weekly.  

· To check out any materials, you must have a current Wayland Free Library card (or STLS member library card) and be a patron in “Good Standing,” i.e. #1 no materials more than six weeks overdue, #2 no video fines outstanding, #3 no other fines of more than $5.00.

ID REQUIRED: (one of the following)
· A VALID Wayland Free Library card
· A VALID Southern Tier Library System Member card
· Valid Driver’s License to use the “Guest Card”
 
User’s agree to the Internet Policy every time access is granted.
 
COMPUTER USER RESPONSIBILITY
 
In providing public access top electronic resources, the Wayland Free Library is guided by the following American Library Association statements on access to information:
· Library Bill of Rights
· Freedom to Read Statement
· Freedom to View Statement
· Free Access to Libraries
· Interpretation of the Library Bill of Rights

Users of the Wayland Free Library public access computers are prohibited from accessing or transmitting inappropriate material via the Internet, electronic mail or other forms of direct electronic communication; disclosing, using, or disseminating personal identification information of minors.

Use of the Internet for activities that violate local, state or federal laws is prohibited. This includes activities such as viewing pornography, committing fraud, hacking, spreading libel or slander, or harass or invade privacy of others.
It is the responsibility of all users of electronic resources at the Wayland Free Library to respect intellectual property rights. Patrons are expected to consider copyright restrictions as they pertain to material obtained electronically.
 
**Please respect the sensibility of others when accessing potentially offensive information or images.

 RULES FOR USING COMPUTER STATIONS

 · Users must sign in at the desk before accessing the Internet.
· Use is limited to one hour per day, for any individual. You may stay on the computer longer with staff approval.
· Users must disconnect from the Internet at the end of their session, collect and pay for all printing. 
· This is a quiet area. No more than 2 people at a time may use a computer.
· Use of the Internet for activities that violate local, state, or federal law is prohibited.
· Illegal activities or unlawful purposes include but are not limited to:
· Hacking, harassing or invading the privacy of others, attempting to degrade the network or disrupt its performance or security, viewing pornography, sending “spam” or unmasking for advertising of any kind, intentional propagation of computer viruses, violating use of copyrighted works without authorization, committing fraud, using the network for commercial purposes, and violating other communication laws.
· Users may not use chat rooms unless for reference and research purposes.
· PRINTING COST…. $.15 per page
· Patrons who need to Download or Save information, must purchase a virus free blank CD or storage device from the circulation desk.
· BLANK CD…$1.00 & FLASH DRIVE…$10
 
USERS MAY NOT:
 
· Install, delete, or modify library hardware or software in any way.
· Download software from the Internet onto the library’s computers.
· Use the network to make unauthorized entry into other computational, communication, information, or services or resources.
· Make any attempt to damage computer equipment or software, degrade or disrupt network.
· Misuse library computers or other resources and equipment.
· Use chat rooms unless for reference.
· Use network for commercial purposes.
